Wild Macaros

2008.05.11
A gall on what I think is an ash tree. Really bizarre things, created by insects or microorganisms. It's about the size of a ping-pong ball.

More galls forming on the same tree. The tree will be fine, so we're not worried.

Honeysuckle. There are vines everywhere. Before long, the air will smell oh so sweet.

More honeysuckle.

Blackberry flowers. While we do have a lot of honeysuckle, it's nothing compared to the amount of blackberry bushes here, especially by the creek. I would have gotten photos today, but we had some good rain, and I didn't feel like sinking in the swampy ground.

You can see the blackberry starting to form.

Fluffy seed pods on a black willow tree. When I arrived home from work the other day, it was really breezy. Every time a good gust of wind came up, the seed pods would scatter. There were so many of them, it looked like it was snowing.

Little tiny future wild cherries.

Even tinier baby scuppernong grapes!

I managed to get these this morning, before the rain set in. Mom spent the day with us, and requested some homemade Tex-Mex for Mother's Day. (She had to twist my arm really hard, you know.)

Happy Mother's Day, Mom. I love you. :)
