The male on the left was in arduous (and amorous) pursuit of the female. I managed to catch them in a rare moment of stillness. I'm always amazed that they don't hurt themselves when they go crashing through the trees.
|
The cardinals are usually very reluctant to come out of the woods while I'm on the porch. This year I've noticed that the females are a little braver. Or maybe they're youngsters, and aren't as afraid yet?
This one was enjoying a drink. |
She noticed me, but stuck around for a moment or two. The rock in the birdbath is from my late grandfather's garden in Tucson, Arizona.

Very beautiful. Perfect lighting and the black background is great contrast. And cardinals are pretty birds. Don´t live in Czech. And also like your birdbath, it is great way to attract birds :-)

Ahhhh ... these made me smile! I'm a bit of a backyard bird lover myself, as I'm sure you know! We don't have cardinals around here so I'm always thrilled to see them here on the blog. And these are beauties!

The cardinal is just beautiful - what a great shot, Lissa! You're going to have one enviable bird watcher's compendium by the end of this year! :)
