Female gold finch. While the males are so much brighter in color, the females have such sweet faces.

Recently I was wondering why the house finches didn't eat the thistle feed like the gold finches do. I never saw them on the finch feeders - only the safflower feeders. Turns out they like both. :)

Even though there's room for so many birds on the feeder, they're always battling over space. The two on the right seem to be having words with each other.

im so envious of all the gorgeous litte birdies that visit your home... The cardinal in #2 is so sweet. I really love the composition of that shot as well..the green background broken up by the branches.
