Erica's Porch

Now that the days are so pleasant, I find myself spending more and more time out here. It's also Sugar's new favorite place to be. She doesn't lie on the porch like just any ol' dog - she has her own spot on the wicker sofa.

What Kevin is holding is not a tennis racket - it's actually a bug zapper. I bought it last year to combat the stupid wasps and flies that would stalk me whenever I stepped outside.

Erica loved it, and became very proficient with it. Kevin can only hope to live up to her standards.

When we were building our house, I kept a blog to track the progress, and keep friends informed without driving them crazy by talking about it constantly. Many of our friends asked which rooms were theirs, while Erica stated, "The rest of you can have any room you want. I want the porch."
Ever since, it has been dubbed Erica's Porch. We still refer to it as such. Last year, she (and our friend Debby) came out to visit us...I mean, her porch. We all had such a great time, and can't wait until they can come back again.
Today is Erica's birthday. In honor of the occasion, I give you Erica's Porch. Happy Birthday, Erica!

I checked out your blog, and I really like the 100 year old photoblog. I noticed the Ducktown signs. My mom was born in Ducktown, TN.

I love the name you've given it..and damn, i love that porch! Looks like heaven to me. I may have to stop visiting your blog. I get so envious of your garden and home :P

Aw - that is such a great tribute to your friend on her birthday! :) That porch is gorgeous and I can tell why Erica claimed it has her own during the construction of the house!
