Orchids
2009.03.23
The table was a great find - $20 on Craigslist, and almost exactly what I was looking for. Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to try painting it, but it'll stay this way for now.

I've always wanted to try my hand at orchids, but never had a suitable place for them, until now. I hope I don't kill them!

I love orchids - they are so exotic and gorgeous! That first picture is my favorite - and I love the table. Great find - you can get such great stuff on craigslist!... I wouldn't bother trying to paint it - it's beautiful just the way it is!

First--love the table! Second, your orchids are wonderful, my white ones just started blooming again, I'm so excited! I love the peach one...I think that will be the next color I get. :-) Here's what I've learned about orchids: they don't like direct sunlight, but like a lot of natural light. They do not like being over water--I water mine ever 7-10 days, just put them in the sink, let everything get saturated and well drained. About once of month I give them orchid fertilizer. So far so good, I've had my white one for a year and half and it's bloomed three times! Good luck with yours. :-)

Ooooh I love orchids and have a plant myself, which I love photographing. I really love the orangey/red one; it's a great contrast with the pink orchid.
