Seed pods from a milkweed plant, aka butterfly weed.

I love the silky parachutes, ready to cast the seeds into the wind.

A "rogue" verbena. I call it a rogue because it came from a hanging basket I had a couple of years ago. It has popped up in the awful clay soil, where we couldn't get anything to grow on purpose if we tried. We found another one earlier this year, dug it up and planted it in our garden, and it's now trying to take over.

#5 and #7 are amazing, Lissa - reminds me how much I love macro shots. The milkweed is a very pretty plant - is that a native?
