Pilot Mountain, near Mount Airy, NC. For fans of the Andy Griffith Show, this is what they called Mt. Pilot. Andy grew up in Mount Airy, which is the basis for Mayberry.

While the colors on the trees along the Parkway were mostly past peak, the meadows were still stunningly green. I couldn't stop photographing this.

Mabry Mill, in Meadows of Dan, VA. About 200 miles northwest of home. This is as far north as we went before turning around to make our way back home.

These photos bring back memories. When I was a kid growing up in Virginia, my family used to drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway every fall to enjoy nature's beauty. Thank you for sharing.

How beautiful! :) They remind me of the photos I took last October when Brett was moving up and we were driving from MA back up to Ontario! Ahhh - I love fall.... except for the arrival of winter :P

Holy Cow... How did I miss this set?!?!?!?! I thought we got to see some spectacular autumn colours around here but, wowsers!!!! The contrast of the colours against the green rolling hills is breathtaking. What exactly is that cottage in the last #3 shots?? PS. Not sure Ive seen a happier looking dog! Did Sugar get to run around and scare the ducks?..
