Today we took a drive along the coast, and stopped at a provincial park (which was closed, but we still took a few snapshots.)

I loved the advertising on the roof of this building

I don't believe that this is one of the five islands, but I could be mistaken

Our destination - Ripley's sugar camp, in Fenwick, NS...

The sap had stopped running a couple of days before...and all three camps that we passed used a much more modern system than the one shown here.

Pouring the sap into metal bowls to cool before stirring to make maple cream

I believe that this is an evaporator, but I could be mistaken.

a couple of the camps have started making maple bunnies for easter.

Neil Ripley's camp, the third one on the road, features a vacuum system to draw the sap from the trees that are located in areas where gravitational flow and collection is difficult. This system is powered by a homemade water wheel
