tourist day a firenze

2008.01.19
The gates of my language school.

Babushka Bicycle Lady.

The ever-elusive nutria, in low res because my camera's zoom sucks.

I CARIBINIERI!

The liceo near my language school. These kiddos smoke like chimneys.

Arno!

More Arno! Wasn't it a pretty day?

All the lamp posts have intricate designs on them. And you can't see it in this photo, but they have curly lion's-paw feet.

Allegorical statue on the Ponte Santa Trinitá.

I biciclisti parlavano sul ponte.

I love this cittá.

Quest'é il ponte vecchio.

My favorite picture I've ever taken.

This is made out of gold. Can you believe it?

The obligatory tourist umbrellas.

One shop had tutti organized by gemstone. This was, obviously, the coral section.

Come si lo fa.

Fruteria! Sono pompelmi, aranciate, anane, pomodori, carciofi, melanzane, et cetera.

The man had a dog-board on the front of his bicycle.

so michelle and i, armed with cameras and a 1-1/2 hour break from italian, stormed the arno from the ponte santo spirito to the ponte vecchio and back. and i saw, for the first time with my very own eyes, the ever-evasive NUTRIA.
