fireweed frenzy

A couple of days ago some of us decided to go north and check out the fields of fireweed after work. Betty offered to take us in her mobile home - so we definitely had a sweet ride for the trip. The fireweed is in peak season right now - so it was the perfect time to go. It was a fun little trip, and it was definitely nice to get away from the camp for a few short hours.

Here's Betty - rockin' it out in the drivers seat. (We had some great driving music playing in the background.) Betty was not as excited about having her picture taken while driving as Ashley was to take them. I ended up with about 30 pictures of Betty that look much like this one.

Ashley greatly enjoyed the view from the passenger's seat. The rolling hills up and down Alaska's mountains were like a roller coaster ride for her.

Chris on the side of a mountain. I think she almost fell off. Or maybe it was Ashley. I don't know. I can't remember. But Chris lost her glasses somewhere along the way on this trip. So we're just going to say that Chris fell off the mountain and rolled down like Chris Farley in "Black Sheep" (but only because she found a child's jacket and was imitating Chris Farley's 'fat guy in a little coat' from "Tommy Boy"). And that's when she lost the glasses. That's the official story anyway.
