Homeless hostel with dogs
February 29, 2011
The hostel welcomes yet forty people (six single men and eleven families), staying in two little buildings.
What makes this project special is the dogs are allowed in the rooms with their owners. They chose to live with an animal, it's often their only social cohesion. They refused some hostings because they wished to live with it.
Here, kennels are built next to the shared room. During eating time and mornings when the hosted people leave their rooms when the housework is done, they can stay together in their rooms.
"They are in the kennels when we eat. It's located in front of the dining room, where they can see us when we eat. They are not worried and we are not worried" says the first man who arrived in the hostel with his dog.
