A week at Lantau Island with my new friend

2009.05.18
Silvermine Beach, Tung Wan Tau section

Cute little cat in the village. I squatted down for 10 whole minutes just to take pictures of it!

小黑 (Blackie) is a cute nice dog I met. The village people told me he's friendly with everyone. He walked right to me when I held my camera in front of him, and asked for head rubs!

This cat looks EVIL!

Tuen Ng Festival (Dragon Boat Fesitval) is coming up!

People are looking for clams on the beach everyday

They are still alive and are moving on the sand!

What a nice way to study, looking at the beach, under the trees, with natural wind!

At first, I didn't dare to approach Scruffy. I sat down on the sand pretty far away. No one dared to approach the dog actually...

I got closer

Everyday, at around 5 pm, you will find Scruffy in this position on the beach~

Max, another friendly dog, a doberman. He's huge, but has a little Shih Tzu friend!

This mischievous cat at the restaurant, sticks to ANY table with fish!

Another scruffy looking dog. A collie mix I guess?

I miss Scruffy already!

Thanks to the awful renovation work at my apartment building and on the slope behind the building, when I desperately need to study for my GCE A Levels, my mom suggested that we head to Lantau Island to stay for a week... So why not?

On 11 May, 2009, we checked ourselves into the Silvermine Beach Hotel. Our room is pretty awesome, with a wonderful seaview. You can see the sun rise every morning if you wish to!

Taking a walk around the neighborhood, you can see many dogs and cats dozing off under the nice summer sun. They obviously are enjoying their life! Most people at Mui Wo have mongrels and multibreeds as their companions, which makes me really happy.

Of course, there are exceptions, I saw a guy with one Golden Retriever, one German Shepherd and one Rottweiler. And Tom, owner of Caffe Paradiso, owns a nice little Pom called Ding Ding. I think Ding Ding is already one of the better behaved Pom I've ever seen!

But if you have to find ONE dog that is having a great time, I would choose a dog whom I named Scruffy. I think he/she is a stray, the hair is just ek.... but Scruffy is one nice dog, that's happy to let you rub his/her head while he/she sits on the beach to watch the sea. This dog comes to the beach every single day, at around the same time.

Next time when you are going to Lantau, particularly to Mui Wo, visit the Silvermine Beach at around 5 pm, and you will find Scruffy there. No, Scruffy is a good dog, doesn't eat my treats!
