Sénégal River

2006.10.08

[River Sénégal, Mauritania-Sénégal. January 2006]
[Camera: Nikon F65, analog!!][/i]

Two days of trip, crossing the mauritanian shore of River Senegal... There?s no where crossing it up to coming to Richard Toll, but it is not important because what surrounds us it?s so absolutely amazing that we?d like to have more time to spend it here. The children play in the settlements, that are not enay more than small round huts made of mud with roofs of straw. The mothers, with the smallest babies tied to the back with shawls, cook in the excavated ovens. They walk barefooted, feeling the sand under their feet in the land of the firsts baobabs. The Senegal, broader and deeper than I ever imagined, goes silently to the Atlantic Ocean. His dark waters reflect the sky. What is above, is below. What is inside, is out.
