High Atlas, Morocco

The first time I went to Morocco I found the High Atlas completly covered with snow. These snows used to be everlasting. But actually, even the Kilimanjaro has snow in Africa.

Sacred Oasis, Morocco

No more water here.
It's incredible how can some species survive even in the most inhospitable places. But why to turn the whole world in a desert?

Fint Oasis, Morocco

This beautiful place has a very sad story.
One year after my first visit to this oasis, it didn't rain at all. It was such a drought that thouse green herbs didn't grew and the goats of the small village didn't have anythig to eat... so they didn't produce milk. Three babies died that summer of starvation.
Fint is only 10 kilometres far from one of the most important and populated cities of Morocco, Ouarzazate: where Hollywood's industry has amazing studios. A city with university, hotels, markets, cybercafes...

Ouzinne

I want the sea of dunes to remain a place to visit, something unusual and exotic. But if we run out of natural resources, we end up living in a haima in a place like this. It's ok for holydays, but do you see any supermarket? any shower? any sofa or tv?

Today I need to make a break.
I want to make you a gift, the gift of HOPE.

I don't usually see documentaries or news about environment, because I'm extremely sensitive to this kind of information. It hurts me in the depths of my being how humans damage our planet, our MOTHER.

Some of you know and understand that I feel nature, I feel I'm a tiny part of this wonderful living organism, I believe that SHE is a gift given to us and that we have become a cancer for her.
Some of you didn't know it or don't understand... but it doesn't matter.

See with my own eyes what we're doing to the EARTH, tears me inside and breaks my soul. I feel without energy today, completely depressed. Even I really have physical symptoms after what I did yesterday: heavy migraine and increase in my atopic skin. That's why I need a break.

But I repeat this time the final message is of HOPE.
My gift for you requires something of your part.
I want to put on your hands the most incredible images you've ever seen, the most beautiful music you've ever heard and the words that will awake your SPIRIT.
I just need you to devote HER 90 minutes of your life.

You just click on you language and FEEL THE EARTH:

Rogermay wow Lovely shots! reminds me of my days in Africa - I have had the pleasure of conquering the Kilimanjaro twice - 19,340 ft (Uhuru Peak). However, it is sad when I hear stories like there will be no snow in 20 years from now. Let us all play our role in saving of mother earth.

eternity65 wonderful post Ruth, second shot is fantastic!! And a very interesting and beautiful film, thanks for the link. Indeed there is much work to be done if we want to safe our planet. But when will governments also wake up and do what has to be done? Look at when they where voting for the Kyoto treaty, the US were against it, why? Industrial power, isn't that a shame? But all we can do, is our little bit of help, and hope eyes will one day open up, and common sense makes place for big corporate money greed. Hopefully before all is to late, so there is not much time left for them.

Kozuka Where there is now a green meadow. Tomorrow, there is already bleak desert. Look out the window, and see the change. :(

TIM927 not much to say cos you have said all Ruth,,we must be wise enough to learn from our mistakes and try to save what is still there, thanks so much for your gift, i´m saving the link to watch it when i have time, it needs more than one hour, but i promise i will do it together with my child, he needs to know, and he will love it. ;)

lookagain Great post, Ruth....thank you for sharing and calling attention to this matter of such vital importance. Priorities are in the wrong place....with big money and industry, which go against the preservation and care of our natural home and all of its inhabitants.

bedazzled A very thoughtful post Ruth.it kills me when I see people cutting down trees to build skyscrapers..!! We can see all around us how global warming is affecting the earth but still if we stay put then things will worsen... We have a small scale project going on where an organisation buys land that is barren and plant trees...the best we can do in our own small way..

Fantastic shots...and thanks for the link!! Take care..

Nellinka Yesterday I watched the film.
I was shocked by the hidden beauties of the Earth, the carelessness of humanity, how much wrong we did to our home, and still how much we can do to save what can be saved.
I was looking for this film for a long time but in the wrong place. I was so glad to find it in your blog.
