Earthquake in China
2008.05.14
When the quake happened the other day, I was actually on the 22nd floor. I felt the swinging to and fro but not really the same where the epicenter was.
But those who were on the lower floors did not feel it. My friend who was walking on the street even accused me of making up the story.
My students hurriedly went down by the stairs (from the 22nd floor!) and the Chinese teachers were hysterical to get all the students down. The foreign teachers were actually the last ones who left the office, except me.
They ALL went down but I remained upstairs. I waited for them to come back but it took them an hour and a half.
In the stillness of the office, I browsed the net and took some photos from my classroom windows (the photo you see in this entry).
Later, my boss appeared at the door and told me that all classes are cancelled that afternoon.
Everyone were also told that another quake will hit at 8:00 p.m. So imagine how everyone's face looked like.
Yes, I'm alive. And safe....
