Inner Mongolia: Gobi Dessert

2008.05.28
I was running as fast as I could in this photo just to get nearer to this view. I don't wanna miss this awesome line of camels in the dessert. It was like a piece of the movie scene I've seen before or maybe, I was thinking about The Nativity scene in the Bible. Whichever! :))

I was like, maybe, almost a kilometer far and my tiny camera's zoom function can't make it clearer. I was panting and sweating profusely when I took this shot.

It's worth it. ;)

They're mine.
I went up and went down just to get the desired shot. :)
At least, I left something in there even if it's gonna be washed away.

RMB 120 ($18) for an hour camel trip, anyone?
I did but only for half an hour.
I can't stand the animal's stink. :))

This is a weird shot for me. These two colors of sand are separated by river that runs dry. The other side---the one with buildings---are the hotels and restaurants that serve, what else, but Mongolian menu: lamb!

I think, I had 20 kilos of lamb within my two-days and a half stay in Inner Mongolia! :))

A sign of life in the dessert.
No matter how barren the land is, some lives survive.

Just like us, mate. ;)

Hills over here and there!

Look at the edge line of the sand and the sky.
It's simply amazing!
And the sand dunes are like having a life on their own!

I was on top of the hill when I shot this.
I sat there for a while until they're gone out of my sight.
It was really a panoramic dessert view!

This an area where the camels are kept. Tired camels. As in, really tired. I pity them so much that I can't do anything about it!

I've seen in my own eyes how their owners beat them if they won't stand. It was really a ghastly, dreadful sight when an old man beat one camel and the nose bled. The animal just heaved a sigh and a sound that I still could hear until now. :((

Really sad. My heart goes out for them.

The cable car.
The flat area is a river that runs dry.
The yurt you see is a restaurant and some food stalls at a far distance.

Sand sliding. It's so cool. It made me young again. ;)

Dessert socks. I didn't use one.
I want to feel the powdery sand and let them tickle my feet.
Yes, I took off my shoes!

Tired camels. Very tired.

There's an area where you find sand sculptures made by really talented Chinese-Mongolians. It's a larger than life sand sculptures and their gigantic sizes are amazing and the intricate designs are well-carved and sculpted.

Most of the subjects are about Mongolian warriors, legends and myth.

A Mongolian castle.

This is me in a traditional Mongolian Prince costume.
Never mind the Sarah Fawcett-like white sunglasses. :))

Lynda Stunning set but I feel sorry for the cruelty to the camels. I think I would have had to go and shout at the ones beating them.

ambersunsets Phenomenal set! Like you said, your running and work for the photos really paid off - definitely worth it!
Okay, I have narrowed down my favorites to these shots.
1st shot for it's sheer beauty.
2nd shot for the perspective, and who doesn't like footprints in the sand?
And the last shot is just too damn sexy^_^
7th shot for the sensual curve.

5th shot for its composition and tone,
