Beijing Bicycles

2008.06.07
Beijing has 9 million bicycles. Figure it out. This ancient mode of transport still survive in this city despite its fast changes that seem unstoppable.

Wherever you go and look, the streets and narrow alleyways are swarmed with commuters in their bicycles in various designs, sizes, colors, quality, beauty and ugliness.

In rush hours, you will be mesmerized, if not muted, at the number of bicycles flying here and there. Of course, a lot of these bicyclists don't follow traffic rules that cause the dreaded, infamous Beijing traffic!

Rain or shine, bicycles and commuters do survive!

There's a movie called Beijing Bicycle which is about teenage angst in modern China.

Bicycles might have been created for its sole purpose: to get around.

But while watching these cyclists to and from everyday, bicycles don't just serve one function, they make someone closer to the person that matters to him / her.

Be it with friends, son, daughter, lover, the better half or alone.

Truly, an intimate way to bond each other.

MUMMoira Lovely set, I don't think I'd survive there I'm too good at falling off a bicycle, but maybe that three -seater (or tandem) would resolve my problem:))))
P.s. what do you call a three-seater bike?

Tramp very intersting set. I also use bike on everyday basis. At my university almost all students do so. Unfortunatelly i'm living probably in the highest place in this town. (but of course it is great fun going down)
