I think if I had a past life I lived in the "Roaring 20s". I like to study that era.

I love the fringe on flapper beads...

..and the knots you can tie in them. They are such fun to wear.

I like beautifully intricate details...all on a purse so small you couldn't possibly fit anything into it.

And I like cameo hatpins. I don't like to wear hats so don't know why I'm drawn to hatpins or to cameos. I just am. Don't really know if they helped to keep a hat on or if they were just decorative. I just use them now to collect dust.

*********

I've never been accused of being fashionable. I'm built for comfort and name brands do nothing to impress me. I think name brands have always been a little overrated price-wise and utilitarian-wise. I wear my clothes until they literally wear out (or get a big stain on them).

I've been through mini skirts, maxi skirts, elephant bells, hip huggers, bikinis, platform shoes, leisure suits and polyester but the greatest fashion invention I've seen in my time has been pantyhose...especially the "control top" that move the fat from the front of your stomach to some unknown nether regions of your body.

The only idea of fashion I have is that I've heard black is supposed to make you look thinner. I hate shopping, but if I do buy any clothes I guess they do tend to be black. I guess wearing black is easier than losing weight. And maybe I don't look thinner...maybe I just look like an unfashionable dowdy witch...but at least I'm usually comfortable!

focussed omg that purse is soooooooo stunning.....your collection of vintage brooches is also very beautiful..do you wear them?
and I love your idea of fashion.....Its far too easy to get caught up in the hype of branding and trends...to think your supposed to look like everyone else looks........i personally also hate trends..and for this reason also usually hate shopping....everything is trend based and it dries me insane.......

PaperWings I love the fashion (and attitude) of the twenties! I have a flapper costume and I wear it over and over, year after year. It's just fun, flirty, and glamorous.
Love the set! Beautiful pieces.

Queen911 You crack me up!!! You look very good in royal colors. Love the purse!!! I love to shop(look), but you know that, keep up on what's new or coming up. Not a name brand buyer, but know who they are.
Love the post.

snappy Wonderful story about fashion.
I like hats, but I can't wear them. The nicest one, the awful I look. I have a friend, she can wear simply everything. If she would wear a pottie, she is still good looking. That makes me jealous. :o))
Beautiful collection which fits yr watermark "never too old" perfect!

jenjung really cool purse and I love the detail on it too, really beautiful.

yes, hatpins were both decorative and for keeping hats on your head. you were supposed to stick it through your hat and then your hair altough i think that's kind of scary cause they're all so sharp. those are some really nice pins!
