No Flowers, No Kids, No Theme- Just Weeds. Lots of Them! *

2008.04.29
Follow the path to the land of weeds.

This stuff is in flower now...everywhere...purple stuff...creepy, crawly purple stuff. (Ooops, I said the word flower, but no, these are WEEDS in flower)

A variety of weeds. Take your pick.

Moss and weeds.

No, that's not my cute pet or even from my cute pet and those aren't flowers. The weeds are violets...the bones are dinosaur.

Beware of the poison ivy. Just looking at it will make me break out, I know. Darn, I'm starting to itch!

I think this is stinging nettle. If you touch it you may get stung. I know. I always fall for it.

Wild black raspberries. They took over the woods at one time. We got rid of that bramble patch. Now they are making a comeback thanks to bird poop dropping with seeds in it.

Burdock looks kind of like rhubarb. Don't eat it, though! I do think I remember it has some medicinal properties.

Don't know what these are.

Tall weeds.

A variety

Butterfly and weeds

Trash left here when we bought the place and weeds. (We cleaned most of the garbage up...but not all)

More brambles... this time gooseberries.

I think the stuff by the fencepost is false solomon's seal. It will take over!

More "I don't know" weeds.

Another Variety of weeds. Salad anyone?

Looks like parsnips...beware the roots are poisonous...this is false parsnip. I've heard tell in the olden days some people died from eating this...especially children.

########

Didn't want to bore or offend anyone today by following a theme or by posting flower or kid or cute animal pics so went with weeds. I can practice using my camera just as well on them. Heaven knows there's no shortage of them around here.

So, what is a weed? Here's a few definitions I have found:

1. Any plant growing in cultivated ground to the injury of the crop or desired vegetation, or to the disfigurement of the place; an unsightly, useless, or injurious plant.

2. Fig.: Something unprofitable or troublesome; anything useless.

3. To take away, as noxious plants; to remove, as something hurtful; to extirpate.

4. To free from anything hurtful or offensive.

------------------------------

Well, maybe, just maybe, sometimes noxious things do have some hidden beauty. You just have to search harder for it, I guess. In the meantime hope you are now free from anything hurtful or offensive ;-)

* Disclaimer: this offer not to bore or offend or not follow theme is for one day only. I will be back to practicing on flowers and grandkids as opportunities strike!

mystic1 I love all your shots including your weeds :) I am glad I don't have to choose which is a weed and which is a plant to keep, I would have to keep all of them or pull all of them :)

Now the next question............who said your posts are a bore?
