By the Dumpster

2008.05.05
They can no longer meet at the water cooler. It's not allowed. So no matter the season or the weather they are compelled to meet several times a day at the dumpster.

Their habit makes them outcasts. They care not. Their habit is expensive. They care not. Their habit is not healthy. They care not. They laugh and have a good time by the dumpster...

...smoking.

The End.

Butt there's a little more to the story..a postscript. - That smoking boy is my own son. My baby. I wish he would quit. Butt he will tell me he can't. Butt where there's a will there's a way, I say. He needs to get a will...or write one.

focussed this is very poetic babe. Initially when i saw the title I thought you shot some homeless people.....
Kinda sad that they have to sit around a dirty bin in order to have a a smoke. That says a lot about how smoking is scene in our culture today.
I feel the mother's worry in your final shot and words.
Youve done really really great job here....really great.

LostAspen Ugh. I truly do not understand how people can do that! Even in the pouring rain and raging snow they go out to smoke. I have friends that smoke, and I don't understand, why would you do something that gross and unhealthy at such a young age and knowing the consequences! It baffles me.

sunshineand tell him i said "no more butts" about it.

blueyes I hate to have my picture taken...that's why I am usually on the other side of the camera.

leocheung A great reportage with a strong message and a sense of humor in it.
I'm glad that I quit the very first time I tried one.
leocheung · 2008-05-05: 21:09
mystic1 A good message with a little humor, someday they all will quit due to the high cost, do you want to buy gas or cancer sticks the choice will be made
mystic1 · 2008-05-05: 21:22
jenjung I hope your son will stop smoking sooner than later. It is so hard to get someone to stop smoking - i know, i've tried. It's so frustrating when they don't really want to stop. It's hard to convince them. I hope he finds some reason, whatever it is, to quit!

DancingDolphin This is a great set.... sadly we can't change other people even when we see them hurting themselves.
DancingDolphin · 2008-05-06: 18:14
Queen911 This is to cute.. Stop stealing my staff for your photos - that's the law.
Queen911 · 2008-05-06: 23:19
Peche Clever but biting post... you can tell whilst there is humour in your voice there is a concern and longing for that habit to be lost... it must be hard to have to watch it when you don't agree with it.
Has he seen the post?
Peche · 2008-05-07: 03:57
ambersunsets Wow, very clever post. I hope that someday my husband can give it up.
