Today's Blooms

2008.05.19
Osteo....mum. I always remember the osteo part because it reminds me of osteoarthritis! I just don't remember the whole name of this flower.

Mountain bluet. I think it is also called centaurea.

Bleeding hearts still in bloom.

The new hydrangea. It is supposed to turn blue or pink depending upon the soil. Mine must be just right since it is turning purple!

I think this is Farewell-to-spring or clarkia. I planted a few seeds a few years ago and now it is trying to take over and has seeded itself down in the woods.

Money plant looks like the previous flower. It sets seed pods as shown. When you take off the dried coating of the seed a pretty paperthin disk remains which can be dried and put in arrangements. My great grandmother gave me seeds of this when I was little. She had the dried pods all over her house.

Tulip with two heads. I have no idea what that white spot is on the bottom of the right hand one!

One of the clematis is blooming.

I THINK this is camassia. I have had it for too long to remember the name and the plant stake is gone. I liked it for my "blue garden".

Verbena

Don't remember what this is either. It's also in the blue garden. It's about to bloom but looks pretty cool like this. I like the foliage.

More tomorrow. My body hurts too much to even walk from working in the garden over the weekend. And my neck and lip and ears are full of swollen gnat bites. At least I think they were gnats. Boy, they itch!

Speaking of flower names that remind you of other things...When I hear the word clematis, I think of chlamydia....an std;)
