Long skirts and beads,
Pipes to smoke weeds,
Jeans - bottoms with bell,
"Teach your children well",
Sartre and Kant,
"Burn your bra" was our chant.
No war - just love
Is there a God above?
Peace signs and tie-dye
Does the establishment lie?
Naked at Woodstock,
Kent and the gunshots,
LSD and bongs,
Grateful Dead songs,
Flowers in long hair,
Peace was our prayer

When I was a hippie.

Now I pull weeds,
Jeans- my bottom looks fat,
At least the children say that!
Still read philosophy.
Need bra 'cause of gravity.
No war-just love.
Yes, God is above.
Earth, family, skies
These things now my highs.
Philosophy turned reality,
cloudiness now clarity.
Garden bells that bong,
Still love Dead's songs.
Flowers in shorter hair
Peace still is my prayer.
