We Need an Ark!

My daughter took these pictures of her front and backyard after the storm on Thursday, June 12. It had looked like a nice day and my husband and 2 granddaughters started into town for a cancer survivor picnic when we got caught in this same storm. Water was running through the streets like a river. Sirens (which sounded more like buzzers) were going off around us. Evidently the picnic went on under a big outdoor tent, but we decided to skip it since we had the girls. I guess the cancer survivors figured if they could survive their cancer they could survive a little storm!


To all the photoblog friends who asked if we were safe here in Iowa - yes, thankfully, we are. Thanks for asking about us. The Mississippi River runs here through Scott County, and it has flooded, but not any worse than earlier in the year. We are in one of the few counties that has not has been declared a disaster area. No levees have broken in the area and I live about 1/2 hr from the river.


Oh, and I'm also proud to say that there has been no looting in this great state of ours during these disastrous times!!!!
