If I Disappear Some Day...

...check out the Dutchman's Pipe vines for my body!

I think I've created a monster. Several years ago I planted a Dutchman's Pipe vine. I didn't know what to expect or exactly what it should look like. I forgot about that until this year when my husband pointed out the little pipes growing on the vine on the trellis. Oh, cool! I never saw any "pipes" until this year! Aren't they just the cutest?No...and as Paul Harvey would say...

"Here's the rest of the story..."

The last couple of years I'd seen vines with heart shaped leaves growing on my trellis where I also have "trumpet vine" planted but I didn't know what it was. I let it grow. It seemed harmless enough - until last year!

Last year I pulled most of it out, or so I thought. This year there are little sprouts of the darned thing everywhere trying to choke the life out of all my other flowers. It has become a noxious weed kind of like the "Sweet Annie" I planted about 10 years ago.

Anyway, right now it is attracting lots of flies. I may be the plant's next victim to be roped into its clutches.

So, if I disappear some day...check the "Dutchman's Pipe"!
