Grandpa's Surprise

Nearly every time the two 3-year-old granddaughters have had "sleep overs" with us grandpa has surprised them close to bedtime with a surprise. They look forward to grandpa's surprises. Sometimes the surprise is a glow-in-the-dark bracelet or google-eye glasses or monster finger puppets. Sometimes it's a special kind of candy like old fashioned dots on paper or circus peanuts.

This time was no exception. The girls took a bath and decided it was too hot for pjs - that's why they are in their underwear. We live in the country and have no air-conditioning so we see nothing wrong with running around outside in underwear in warm weather - if you are 3-years-old! Grandpa told them to go outside and wait on the stoop. They waited in anticipation for their surprise!

First there were snakes.

Then there were smoke bombs - white, purple and blue

Kayla didn't care much for the noise. But Isabelle was jumping for joy.

Then they tried out some "snaps". Isabelle tried to talk Kayla into just trying to throw a couple of snaps.

They both went through the unused snaps to give them a try.

Nope! Kayla didn't care much for any of grandpa's surprise tonight!
But Isabelle enjoyed it all.

Oh, well. Can't please everyone all the time. Time to go in to bed, girls!
