I bought some roses on-line from a nursery I like. It was buy one and get two free - a bareroot sale. I can't pass up deals like that so I bought 7 different kinds (21 totally new roses). I gave one away and two of them didn't do too much. Much to my delight some of them are already blooming. I expected to wait until next year to see roses.

Note to self: Taken on a morning walk, July 25 at around 9:00 a.m. Practiced shooting in manual mode. 50mm lens. Set aperature at 5.6 because one of my books says that is best for flowers. +2 diopter added to lens. ISO 400 - forgot to look at that before shooting so that is why it was set there. Used different shutter speeds depending upon the light. No post-processing except for a little cropping.
