The Reception

2008.07.27
My niece, Wendy, and Alex, got married May 25 in a castle near Ft. Drum, NY. The groom is in the service and stationed there. Both of their families reside near here in Illinois so their reception was Sunday, July 27 - while Alex was on leave. They are both 19. He will be deployed to Iraq in November. She will be attending college near home and worrying about her love.

Poor Wendy. She took her dress to the cleaners after the wedding and before the reception. Unfortunately, the cleaners shrunk it a little. According to mom (my sister-in-law), there was a last minute crisis because Wendy didn't bother to try her dress after it came back from the cleaners until 1/2 hr before reception time. They made a few last minute alterations but Wendy claimed she couldn't breathe too well.

A toast to the bride and groom from Alex's brother.

The cake. My husband's family is so large (he has 7 brothers and sisters and they all have 2-5 kids, etc) and almost everyone has a camera so it is very difficult to get any pictures without fighting your way through the crowds of cameras.

The dance

The family. This is Wendy's immediate family - Ben, Little Jo, Big Jo (mom), Wendy,Alex, Steph and Dan.

The little guests (my grandkids and grand nieces) partied in their own room. I remember when Wendy was that age. How time flies. Time flying is bittersweet. I probably won't see Wendy too much anymore.

photopoet Oh these are so much fun to look at. They are both so young and why are we sending young people to Iraq?
