These are Asian pears. They are rounder and the fruit is crisper than European pears - more like an apple.

Oh, man ~ I'm so envious!! We love pears. But I have to buy mine by the bushel and can them!! I've never had pear honey ~ what do you use it for/on?? Sounds wonderful! :o)

Your beautiful photos and information have taught me something today. I don't know a lot about pears. I do know that they seem to be a fruit with a very short window of perfection . . .either they are too hard or mushy if not just right. I love these shots.

Ah—to have one's own pear trees—such a wondrous delight. I go to the orchard a few miles away and wander amongst their pear trees. These are wonderful succulent pears and photos that tease the taste buds.

Tasty pics! I'm not sure, if we can buy Asian pears. Some have names of women: Gute Luise, Herzogin Elsa or a funny one: Forelle, which means trout.
