Misshapen Cookies

2008.10.03
Made peanut butter cookies today with the grandkids.

Lesson 1: Peanut butter doesn't easily come out of a measuring cup by itself.

Lesson 2: If you are out of baking powder you can use baking soda and cream of tartar. And baking powder is not like talcum powder but you can wear it if you are a messy person.

Lesson 3: It takes a lot of measuring cups, a little princess and a little horse to make delicious peanut butter cookies.

Lesson 4: You shouldn't eat raw cookie dough, Isabelle.

Lesson 5: Putting criss-crosses on peanut butter cookies with a fork is a fine art. Smash gently with fork or you will have a very flat ball of cookie dough stuck to your fork or the cookie sheet or both.

Lesson 6A: Different people eat their cookies different ways. Belle eats hers warm - right out of the oven. She also says if there are cracked, broken or misshapen ones then you can eat all of those you want right away.

Lesson 6B: Hot or cold Kayla prefers to eat her cookies with a napkin - cookies may crumble and get you all messy.

jenjung that's great that you cook with them - my mom always shooed me out of the kitchen and told me to go study and that I could learn to cook later when I became an adult and got married : (

veganess Isabel could eat the raw dough, if you used 1/4 cup silken tofu in place of the egg!! (And you can't tell the differance in the end product, trust me!!)

Judith28 These are wonderful photos and great commentary! If raw dough was really terrible for you there would probably be about a million of us very sick right now. However, instead we continue to lick the dough from the mixer!:)
