Old Cemetery at Dusk

2008.10.10

She looks like she's planted! (out of her element and worried about snakes ;-) ) What a friend to come along with me!

As sun started to set the picket fence reflected a cross on a tree trunk. (I think I can see a face in the tree trunk too).

As the sun sets a green ghost shows up in the trees.

-----------------

I spent Friday, Oct. 10, with my friend, Marsha and our cameras. We went on a Fall Foliage Cruise, visited Scarecrow Row and Geocached. This blog is about the geocache. Pictures of other events to follow as soon as I find time!

My husband just bought me a gps because I have wanted to geocache my way around the surrounding cities to some lovely spots where I can take some photos. I love cemeteries (but don't want to live there) and have photographed whole cemeteries at a time to contribute to IowaGravestones. I found a geocache called "Forgotten Past" that mentioned a cemetery and was not familiar with the area where it could be found. So we set off to find it. It wasn't easy. And we didn't find the cached logbook to sign so I may go back again (and also chalk the stones to read names better). The cemetery had about 7 stones and it appears it really has been forgotten. It's overgrown and some stones are broken.
