314. The Last Sap

Vespula germanica aka European Wasp

I've always been fascinated by yellow wasps, as well as yellow hoverflies. Don't ask me why, it is probably because of the vivid color that it produces on itself.
It is autumn, so there are few flowers now, and they still need some food for their larvaes which are in safety in a sheltered place.
These are workers, and they are ''eating'' the sap from the leaves of this plant, to get it sugar which will be used as food as well as to make the nest.
These will die before the onset of winter., and the larvaes will hatch next spring.

lookwhatisaw You are brave, my friend. Even with a telescopic lens from 10 meters, I would get that close :-)) Very interesting. The black and yellow contrasts really are strong and nice.
