Baruny

2007.01.05

Little old photo.
Well, Baruny is a village in north-western Belarus. In the 18th century the monks of the Greek-Catholic Order of St Basil built here a baroque-styled monastery. In 1944 the village was burnt by Nazi soldiers and the monastery was the only survived building that was used for ten years as a shelter for local school and children garden. Nowadays, it is a Roman Catholic church. It also attracts some pilgrims from Belarus and Lithuania with its holy source.

Membrillo Interesting architecture, I´ve never seen something like that in Bs.As.
Ah, you have a fan now: my dad, heh. My grandfather was from Minsk and came to live here (Argentina) when he was young. My father is a big freak of everything related to his heritage, soooo he loves to see your pics! Thanks a bunch for sharing and showing us your place.
