Mongolian Secret Rock

Secret Rock is a very interesting place of Central Mongolia. In fact, it is only a small stony bluff outstanding of other mountains. However, many thousand years ago the first ancient people chose it to draw different pictures with hunting and magic scenes. The Shamans did not allow simple people even to come near the Rock. Then the Buddhist monks proclaimed it as a holy place and left on the stones the Tibetan letters and signs. During the period of Socialism unbelieving tourists loved to draw their names and ribald graffito, sometimes over ancient pictures and signs. Nowadays, the Secret Rock is a part of the National Park and people are not able to write on the stones. The Buddhists bring blue ribbons and tourists touch to the Rock with a wish to receive a part of its holy force. Speaking the truth, I was little disappointed to see it, because I was waiting for something more grandiose. But local people told that the Secrete Rock is still inhabited with different spirits. That’s why they often view in the sky UFOs and meteors by their own eyes.
