Armenia: Erebuni

2007.08.20
Argishti still drives his chariot

“Argishti, son of Menua, built this strong castle and named it as Erebuni.”
This graffito was left in 782 in the top of the Arinberd Hill by the king of Urartu. It was the first page of the history of Yerevan, the capital of modern Armenia. During the archaeological excavations they found the ruins of the walls and buildings of this ancient city, as well as large grain stocks and water-pomp systems.
