Armenia: The Lake of Sevan

2007.09.22

Sevan is the largest Caucasian high-mountain lake. It covers about 1200 square kilometers and absorbs water of 28 rivers to incarnate in one river of Razdan. At the ancient time the lake was known as the Gegamalitch. In the southern coast of it there were Urartian settlements. In the Middle Age Armenian monks erected their monasteries around the Sevan. Nowadays, it is a nice tourist center.
