One British officer wrote in the 19th century that Shiraz was the most Persian city of Persia. Inhabitants of Shiraz still say with a great proud that Shiraz is beautiful. In reality, it is a large and noisy city. There are many historical attractions here, include the tomb of Hafez, but they are dispersed among modern buildings and thus they look as poor relatives in front of brilliant mansions and shop centers. To understand the beauty of Shiraz I had to go deep into the old resident area that is usually ignored by foreign tourists. I hope to present the atmosphere of this “most Persian city” with my photos.
