Grey heron, London Wetlands Centre, London, UK, ******
I had been photographing this heron and its futile fishing attempts for 15 hours, over the course of 3 days, for a local photo competition. I called it Mr Jones for no reason other than to amuse myself. Eventually, it saw something and made a stab for it (this is just on the impact) but, rather typically, it withdrew an empty beak from the water.
