On 4 February 2007 - the Akheri Munajat at the Biswa Ijtema, saw its conclusion on the banks of the Turag, 12 km north of the capital.
Throughout this festival, Muslims seek divine blessings for the Muslim Ummah and people throughout the world. More than three millions of Muslims participated at the congregation this year.
Muslims began on Friday amid tight security. President Iajuddin Ahmed and chief adviser of Care Taker Government Dr. Fakhruddin Ahmed attended the Monazat. Huge Security forces guarded the venue, which was spread over 190 acres beside the river bank in Tongi.
Last year more than 2.5 million people joined the final prayers. The Ijtema has been held annually at the same venue since 1966. The monazat shuns politics and focuses on reviving the tenets of Islam and promoting peace and harmony.
