Fire and Light

2009.05.09

The orange starburst in the center of the frame is a natural gas burnoff shooting about 200 feet in the air. I'm about six miles from the site. I'm shooting from the side of interstate 20 on a downhill curve. Lots of traffic.
pixel
Another shot with even more traffic.
pixel
Shot from about 500 yards with about a three second exposure. I used a Sony 18-70 mm lense at about 70mm.
pixel
Auto exposure, spot metered with a Sony 70-300 mm lense set at about 300 mm. Those are Oak trees at the base of the flame approximately 50 feet tall. Gives some perspective on the size of the flame.
pixel
This one reminds me of a cow with a feed bag.
pixel
I think this one looks like a firey porpoise. Head, nose, and eye to the top left.
pixel
Something with horns.
pixel
Kind of like a dancer kicking one leg back.

Got a call from my son about 8:30 tonight about a natural gas burn off near interstate 20 in Grand Prairie, Tx. Couldn't resist.
