Thank God I'm a Country Boy

2010.04.27

Well life on the farm is kinda laid back
Ain't much an old country boy like me can't hack.
It's early to rise, and early in the sack.
Thank God I'm a country boy.
pixel
Well I got me a fine wife, I got me a fiddle.
When the sun's coming up I got cakes on the griddle.
Life ain't nothing but a funny, funny riddle.
Thank God I'm a country boy.
pixel
I'd play Sally Goodin all day if I could,
But the Lord and the wife wouldn't take it very good,
So I fiddled when I could, work when I should.
Thank God I'm a country boy.
pixel
Well I wouldn't trade my life for dimonds or jewels.
I never was one of those money hungry fools.
I'd rather have my fiddle and my favorite tools.
Thank God I'm a country boy.

Life ain't nothing but a funny, funny riddle.
Thank God I'm a country boy.

My Daddy taught me young how to hunt and how to whittle,
Taught me how to work and play a tune on the fiddle.
Taught me how to love and how to think just a little.
Thank God I'm a country boy

This is Biscuit, his dog. Funny I have a dog named the same thing and neither one of us knew the other's dog's name when we named ours.

It's been a long time since this pump was primed, it's all electric now and the deep well water is fantastic.

He left the old windmill standing. I think he's like me, we grew up around windmills and it's a link to the past.

Biscuit again.

Woodpecker in tree by his house

Redbird in the Oak by his house.
pixel
Bluebird, you can tell what he's doing.
pixel
One of the dozens of hummingbirds around his front porch.
pixel
Finally a dove across the cow lot from his house.

Well time to bring it on down...

Well I got me a fine wife, I got me a fiddle.
When the sun's coming up I got cakes on the griddle.
Life ain't nothin' but a funny, funny riddle.
Thank God I'm a country boy.

Lyrics by John Denver and are not in order.

Spent the day with my bother and his wife on the farm.
If it moved or sat still I took a photo of it. I could see the puzzled look on his face when I took some of them.
Photos from the city cemetary coming soon.
