All photos were taken with a Sony 16.4 MP point and shoot as an experiment to see how it handled random night photography. It has the ability to create in camera HD images and I think did pretty good. All shots hand held. This was supposed to be a really strange parade and I would have to agree. It followed a path through the French Quarter.

I knew it might be strange when I found this guy(?) directing traffic. I have no clue what the guy to the right is drinking.

The parade didn't start till well after dark somewhere around 7:00 but did not reach us until around 9:30. Parts of the French Quarter are beautiful at night.

These two were right behind the lead Krewe. Notice the hog snout on the hats.

The crowd seems to get mixed with the parade and it really becomes crowded. I move back to the sidewalk to shoot a little steadier.

After the parade we moved on to Bourbon Street where I caught the observers who didn't want to get involved on the balcony. Nice safe place to be at that time.

On the first part or our journey we spent the night in New Orleans where my wife had heard about an odd parade. The Krewe du Vieux, not sure what that means, but here are a few of the tame, and I point out TAME shots from the parade. Janie won't let me post some of the more interesting shots. You know guys with fake breasts and really strange floats with an emphasis on genetalia.
