Port Lucaya, Freeport, Bahamas

This is the centerpoint of the shopping area. The whole main center with the exception of the market was beautiful. To us, on the brochure, this seemed like the highpoint of the island.

Center section of part of the shopping area. Looks deserted because we were probably the first group to hit the center that morning.

Part of the market at one end of the center.

I guess since they have boats on the water docked here, this could be a port.

One of the popular areas of the center, near the bar.

Now remember, this is at about 10:00 in the morning and one of the most crowded places just happened to be the Rum Runners Bar. I guess drinking and shopping were about the only things you could do here. There was a casino across the street but according to a couple of our friends it was a pretty bad one.

Port Lucaya. True it was a port of sorts but mostly it was built to separate the tourist from his or her dollar. The shopping center was beautiful but the prices were not and the pressure was high especially in the booths. The clerks in the stores were nicer but a little indifferent.
