Ft. Worth Nature Center and Reserve

There were absolutely hundreds of this type of butterfly all around the water.

There were only a handful of these and when their wings were closed they were very drab.

When this one closed it's wings it was just shades of gray. There weren't many of these around.

The flying beetle has just shoved the one in the flower down off the edge then took off.

I thought he was going to fly away but he just hovered above the flower and then dropped back down.

Two more of the black and orange butterflies.

Cactus flowers with a bee about to land.

Cardinal in the woods.

In the previous shot he had something in his beak but in this one he had just dropped it.

He gave up and flew up into the trees.

I think these are cornflowers but I'm not sure.

There was a horned owl in a cage beside the visitors center. What a wonder depth of field can accomplish.

Cornflowers(?) and cactus. There were everywhere.

Not to be buffaloed about the Cornflower(?), I found some buffalos on my way out of the reserve.

I think that this was the Alpha male. He was off by himself and on one was going near him. Hope you enjoyed.

Drove over to the west side of Ft. Worth to see what their nature center looked like. It is part of Lake Worth and has a lot of marsh land around it. There was an abundance of photo ops around the reserve.

Wow,wow,wow!!! I am so envious...you captured a Mourning Cloak butterfly (#3) which I'd love to capture but never have! this whole set is incredible! well done!
