There are no poppies, there are no crosses except on the gravestones. The grass between is carefully cared for. They came home, no Flanders Fields.

Morning formation, chow call, retreat. Seems we stood at formation every time we turned around.

Never saw her face but I know she had to have tears in her eyes. The loss seemed pretty recent to me.

I've seen him before and I probably will again. He comes here on Sundays, every Sunday. For the first time today we spoke. He lost her twenty five years ago. I don't know if she was the soldier or he was but it really doesn't matter. He carries a photo album with him. They still talk.

I couldn't resist. I staged this shot with a friend who comes to Dallas ocasionally, or I go to San Antonio to take photos. He's Vietnam era even though he didn't serve. I wonder but didn't ask what he was thinking while he was sitting there.

Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetary. Just a few short years ago this was partially forested pasture land, maybe five years. Now it is inhabited by thousands who will never speak to us again except through our prayers and dreams. If you get a chance, talk to them.
Barry Mcguire wrote a song in the '60s called "Eve of Destruction" and it's been updated with a current times video. Take a look and listen.
Now I'm no fool and I know that people have claimed that we have been on that "Eve of Destruction" for centuries. One crisis after another. It's no longer like what this next U-tube would have us hope for. I hope many of you remember this one.
