One of the downsides to living in Southampton is that we don't get much snow compared to the surrounding areas. Dissatisfied with the inch of snow in our garden we headed east to find some more, by the time we reached the hills above Portsmouth the snow was the best part of a foot deep.
Here is the front of Fort Widley with its cannon looking particularly festive. |
The road along the top of the hill was made more entertaining by the wind causing the snow to drift over parts of the road.
The Portsdown Hill car park was however full and people were using all manner of objects to slide down the hillside on. The burger van was doing a roaring trade!
The footpath, however, provided stunning winter scenery and a welcome break from the biting northerly wind.
I also discovered that a monopod doubles as an excellent walking stick, great for fathoming out how deep the snow is before stepping into it.

The cars in #2 look like they are passing each other really closely. Nice snowy set.
