Riverside Park

I took a walk beside the river this afternoon. I was trying unsuccessfully to get a heron to pose for a photo when I heard a flapping commotion coming from up the river. I turned and captured this image as the swan was trying to get airborne.

As it happens, the swan was eager to see off a young rival before turning his attentions to his lady friend. The disgruntled heron is sitting on the branch behind.

All is not as it may first appear

I was trying to use the bridge to create an interesting frame for the anglers on the opposite bank, they were a bit too far away.

By the time I got back to this bridge the tide had dropped enough to reveal this mischeviously placed diversion sign.

And finally a sunset view of Riverside Park. The scene had so much contrast I needed to resort to HDR to get an extra 6 stops of dynamic range. Enjoy!
