King of Prussia, Day 1
2008.04.19
This was the hotel I stayed at in Washington. Apparently Batman stays here, too. The Kitcheteria no longer exists, sadly.

The view from the bus stop at Market and Schuylkill. I actually needed to be at the stop across the street, which I found out in the nick of time.

This bed looks comfy. Apparently I'm in a room for deaf people, as there is a doorbell that makes one of the fire alarm things flash.

Someplace I read I should get dressed in my gear and then pile it by the door in the order I take it off, so that I can hop right into it it the morning. Didn't follow that exactly, but this is what I'll look like at the start of the race. I'm sure I won't be smiling at the 4-mile mark.

After a long train ride and a nearly equally long bus ride, I am in the hotel in King of Prussia, PA. Tomorrow is the big race and I had to go pick up the packet first. Only 1.5 miles, but on a road that is extremely pedestrian unfriendly. When I got back (whew!) I thought about renting a car, but decided instead to have a taxi pick me up at 7 a.m. and haul me to the race. I'll walk back, but this way I don't have to be walking along the roadside at 6:30 tomorrow morning. There is no grocery store for miles, so the best I could find for breakfast tomorrow was granola bars, and had to walk about a half-mile just to get those.
