A hot sunny day. The heat made the bugs extremely frisky and difficult to snap.

#8 > #14 - A fight to the death between [I believe] a common wasp and an ichneumon wasp. The ichneumon wasp needs a live host for its egg, another wasp will do. I had trouble keeping them in focus while they thrashed about. The red blobs are legs that have been bitten off. The common wasp won, beheaded the ichneumon, and flew off with its trophy between its jaws. It was a ferocious battle that lasted only 30 seconds.

peterk I spotted the entangled tumbling wasps out of the corner of my eye just as I got out the camera and it was almost over before I frantically had the right lens sorted.
