Because most of the weight of the lines is downward? What strikes me about it is the wonderful depth of the color near the center of the rose and the gradations of color going toward the edges....

Isn't it crazy how a creative composition can transform a nice shot into a magnificient photo? I'm very impressed, Peter. You put 20 photos here each day and you still got all these beauties in your archives?!?
