The Intersection of People and Place

Yesterday afternoon I went to a bakery/coffee house to buy a loaf of sourdough bread and see an exhibition of photos.

After looking at photos of barns and flowers I turned to a red wall and gave it the same concentration. Instead of seeing a flat wall, I noticed a cracked line, a strong vertical line and a flatness that bowed out. To the right, but on the same wall, rusted wheels —hung as if suspended out of time.

The intersection is that space where it's possible to see beyond a surface.
The intersection is the metaphor — awareness of what is below the surface.
The intersection is the searching.
